RACING FORMAT, COURSE AND REGULATIONS

The race format is XCO, thus lap racing. The courses are roughly 4-6km km long and the following categories (for both genders) will take part:

  • Sub-junior: 13-14
  • Youth-15
  • Youth-16
  • Junior-17
  • Junior-18/19

The number laps per category is determined by the Chief Commissaire. The regulations that apply for the event is that of Schools Cycling South Africa. It is the responsibility of the rider and team managers to know the regulations.

HELMETS AND KIT

Schools are encouraged to wear uniquely branded kit. Extracts from the regulations:

  • Helmets are compulsory
  • No sleeveless shirts
  • No camera on helmet or chest
  • School cycling kit or school sport kit to represent your school

NUMBER BOARDS

  • Team managers/ teachers/ representatives of schools to collect number boards from registration table from 06:30 on Friday or Saturday
  • Numbers are allocated according to rider categories
  • Lost number boards – R100

Riders must bring their existing number boards with, please remember to bring cable ties with! New riders will have to buy new number boards. Lost boards will be replaced at R100 each.

TECH/FEED ZONE

Schools are encouraged to setup gazebo’s in the tech/feedzone. Schools are only allowed to have one gazebo that fronts the course. They can have more behind this gazebo. No open fires are allowed. School using gas to warm meals shall have a fire extinguisher available.

FEMALE CATEGORIES

To distinguish the female riders apart the following color code will be used:

  • Sub-Junior: white
  • Youth-15: orange
  • Youth-16: green
  • Junior-17: blue
  • Junior-17: blue
  • Junior-18: purple

There will be small colored stickers available that every rider must put on her number board.

POINTS

The format of the Cycle Lab Schools MTB Series allows for all finishers across all categories to score points for both individual and schools logs.
